Pastor Right noticed that little Johnny was staring at the banner. He was mesmerized. He kept staring at the flags beside each name on the banner. Finally Pastor walked over and asked Johnny if everything was ok. He told Johnny that this was the names of the men and woman who died in service. Still staring Johnny weakly asked, which one the 8 o'clock or the 10:30? We hear so much about prosperity these days; Finding the favor of God, and being blessed. So many people go to church for the loaves and fishes. (blessings) How do I gain wealth, is their goal. Is this what God is all about? No. It is true he desires us to have an abundance, but our salvation is first and foremost. In John 3:16- it says that God so loved the world. In Matthew 22:37-40 It says that we should love the Lord our God with all our hearts, our mind, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves. All the laws hang on this. Jesus gave his life a ransom for our salvation, when He died on Calvary's cross. Ephesians 5:1,2 Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children; 2. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us,... We come to Jesus to in faith, but even faith operates by love. Galatians 5:6- says faith works by love. They that are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. Obedience is necessary. It says that King David was the apple of God's eye, why? Because he was quick to repent when he sinned and he worshiped God in spirit and love. David wasn't perfect but his heart was right. Matthew 6:33- says to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these other things shall be added unto you. 2 Timothy 2:15- says to study to show yourself approved unto God; a work-man that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Solomon, the wisest man ever said in Ecclesiastes 12:13-Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. To keep the commandments you've got to Know them. John 14:15- says if you love me, keep my commandments. John 8:32-And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 31- says that if you continue in my (God's) word you are my disciples indeed. 3 John 2- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.This is a greeting from Gaius.
