Terri asked all the kids in her Sunday School class to draw a picture of their favorite Bible story. She was a little puzzled with Johnnie's picture. She asked him about the 4 people in the airplane. Johnnie replied that it was Joseph, Mary, and Baby Jesus, in their flight to Egypt. Terri asked who the 4th. person was? Pontius, the pilot, Johnny replied. In The beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. John 1:1- It goes on to say that all things were made by him, and in him was life. The Word of God is quick, powerful, sharper than a two edged sword...Then it speaks of knowing the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4: 12-16 Then it says that we have a great high priest, and for us to come boldly before the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find help in time of need. John said that the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (John 1:14) The living word. Jesus left a written testament by which we may know Him and the power of his resurrection. We need to study the word and let it become a part of us. 2 Timothy 2:15. This is one way we learn of Christ and are approved of God. The word is comfort to the weary soul. 1 Thessalonians 4:18. King David in Psalms 119:105 says that thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. To know the way we should do things. John 14:6 says , Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by Him, Psalms 119:11 David says that he hides the word in his heart that he might not sin against God. That sounds like he studied and memorized Gods word. 1` John 2:3-5 our proof of knowing Jesus is that we keep his word & in him is the Love of God perfected. It is a process. Being able to know the true word of God is a privilege. We don't get browny points for studying our Bible, but but truth and knowledge of eternal life.
