Joshua in the 24th. chapter v. 14,15 says "Now therefore,  fear the Lord, & serve Him in sincerety & in truth... !5. ... As for me & my house, we will serve the Lord. Lets set thw scene. Joshua is old  & fixing to die. He gathers all of Israel to set things in order before he is with the Lord. He calls the leaders & exorts them to continue serving the Lord; not serving other gos's or marrying into the heathen .families.They were in peace & God was delivering them from their enemies. Joshua incouraged the Israelites to serve the Lord with sincerity & truth. He let them know if they turned to other god's, that they would not be able to serve the Lord God, a Holy God. He would turn the blessings to curses & He would no longer help them, but hurt them & consume them .A lot of times the preachers forget to warn the people that God is a Holy God & will not always continue to bless those who are not striving to serve Him, but want the blessinngs without the service. It's like the song says, 'my children sit at my table , but who will work in my fields?" If some one is striving & repenting. then was workingout their own salvation with fear & trebbling. That's different. But many only know the Lord for the blessings. What is your reason for going to church? To learn of God or is it for status? To Worship King Jesus or because you like preacher?
