Fellowship Hall

Jesus and his disciples come to Bethany to spend time with those He loves. He and his followers attended a feast and Lazarus was at the table with him. Martha was serving and Mary came where he was reclining and took a pound of spikenard, very expensive, and anointed his feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the aroma of this wonderful ointment. Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, began to complain about the wastefulness of this act, saying it should have been sold and given to the poor. Judas was in charge of the money for Jesus and the disciples. He was a thief and not really concerned about the poor. He just wanted the money to be accessible to him. Jesus scolded those who were criticizing Mary. He stated that she has done this  in preparation for my burial. He told his followers that He would not always be with them but the poor they would always have. What about you? Do you do what you ought to do or do you try to justify your failure to do what the Lord desires. After this feast, the rulers of the Jews realized that a lot of the people coming to see Lazarus were becoming followers of Jesus and they were wanting to kill Lazarus also. We must realize that we have an enemy who never quits trying to smother out the light of Jesus that shines from us. Our place is to stand for Jesus  in all things so that when others see Him in us, they can proclaim that He is Alive!!!  I am looking forward to seeing you in Sunday School at 10:00 A.M.
