Christian Doctrine God (Part 7) Attributes:
Who Is He?
God Is Omnipresent
➢ What Does This Mean?
• God is present everywhere at the same time.
• Because God is spirit, rather than a physical being,
He is able to be everywhere at once.
➢ Where Do We See This in Scripture?
• Psalm 139:7-10 shows that everywhere we could
possibly go, God is there.
• God is both near and far off (Jer. 23:23).
• There is nowhere we can go and be out of God’s presence (Jer. 23:24).
• The Psalmist recognized that wherever we find ourselves faced with trouble, God is present there with us (Ps. 46:1).
• Jesus promised to be with all believers: “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20).
➢ What Does This Mean for Me?
We can have great peace knowing that God is present with us every minute of every day.
Through difficult times, we can be assured that God’s personal presence is there to comfort and calm us (John 10:11-15; Heb. 13:5-6)
This truth also reassures us that our good actions, even those done in secret, are seen by our heavenly Father, who looks to reward His children (Heb. 11:6).
The fact that God is always with us also serves as a warning. When we are in positions of temptation and sin, we must remember that God is there with us. We cannot hide our sin from God (Prov. 15:3).
